Our construction management firm in Toronto is currently overseeing several major renovation and capital repair projects for institutional clients, including schools and healthcare facilities. We are looking for a seasoned Construction Superintendent to take charge of our active sites. You will be the pivotal link between our project managers, the trades on the ground, and the client's representatives.
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
1. Directing all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to the engineered drawings, specifications, and project schedule.
2. Coordinating multiple subcontractors simultaneously, ensuring smooth workflow and preventing trade stacking in confined spaces.
3. Enforcing rigorous health and safety protocols (OHSA compliance), conducting daily toolbox talks, and maintaining a zero-incident culture.
4. Managing the procurement and logistics of materials, verifying deliveries, and minimizing waste on site.
5. Overseeing the compilation of closeout documents, including As-Built drawings, O&M manuals, and warranty certificates.
Who we need:
1. A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent specifically in institutional renovations or heavy commercial projects.
3. Deep knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, construction sequencing, and envelope repair techniques.
4. Proficiency in Procore or similar construction management software, and the ability to read complex MEP drawings.
5. Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven track record of mentoring foremen and resolving conflicts on site.
