Protecting lives and property is the core mission of our fire protection division in Chicago. We are currently hiring a Fire Sprinkler Fitter to join our installation crews, working on large-scale commercial, industrial, and high-rise residential projects. This is a highly skilled trade that requires precision, physical strength, and a deep understanding of fluid dynamics and fire codes.
Your primary responsibility will be the layout, fabrication, and installation of wet and dry fire sprinkler systems. You will be working with black and galvanized steel pipe, cutting, threading, and grooving the pipe to exact specifications. You will assemble the risers, install the main lines and branch lines, and hang the system using seismic bracing and rod hangers. Finally, you will mount the sprinkler heads, connect the fire pump, and assist in the hydrostatic testing and flushing of the system before it is handed over to the fire marshal.
To be successful, you must have at least 2 years of experience as a sprinkler fitter or pipefitter. You need to be able to read isometric drawings and understand NFPA standards. Proficiency with pipe threaders, grooving machines, and rigging equipment is mandatory. You must be comfortable working at heights, in tight ceiling spaces, and on active construction sites.
We offer a highly competitive wage of $75,000 USD annually, with substantial overtime and union benefits, including a pension and health insurance. You will be provided with all specialized pipefitting tools and PPE. This is a fully on-site role at our various major construction projects in the Chicago area.
