An innovative MEP engineering consultancy based in Amsterdam is expanding our mechanical design division. We specialize in creating highly efficient, sustainable climate control systems for complex environments, including mission-critical data centers, large-scale commercial offices, and industrial facilities. We are seeking a Senior HVAC Design Engineer who thrives on solving complex thermodynamic challenges.
In this role, you will take ownership of the mechanical design from concept through to construction administration. You will be calculating cooling and heating loads, designing complex chilled water and refrigerant systems, and selecting high-efficiency equipment like chillers, AHUs, and VRF systems. Your designs will need to integrate seamlessly with the architectural vision and the other engineering disciplines.
1) Performing detailed heat load calculations, psychrometric analysis, and hydraulic/pump sizing for complex HVAC systems.
2) Designing and drafting 3D BIM models of HVAC systems using Revit MEP, conducting clash detection with structural and electrical models.
3) Selecting and specifying specialized equipment, writing detailed technical specifications, and evaluating vendor submittals.
4) Coordinating closely with architects, structural engineers, and electrical designers to resolve spatial conflicts and optimize system performance.
5) Providing technical support during the construction phase, answering RFIs, and reviewing contractor shop drawings.
We are looking for an engineer with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 4 years of specific experience in HVAC design for large commercial or industrial projects. You must be highly proficient in Revit MEP and calculation software like HAP or MagiCAD. A deep understanding of ASHRAE standards and local Dutch building codes (Bouwbesluit) is required. You should be a self-starter who can work independently in a remote setting while maintaining excellent communication with the team.
We offer a highly competitive salary of €75,000 per year, along with a flexible working arrangement. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the Netherlands, with occasional team meetings at our Amsterdam office. We provide a home office stipend, a premium laptop, and licenses for all necessary engineering software.
