I’ve spent the last six years working on concrete and steel structures across the Midwest, transitioning from a general laborer to a skilled ironworker and concrete finisher. My career started in 03.2017 with a commercial framing crew in Ohio, where I learned the basics of tying rebar and setting forms. By late 2019, I moved to a larger civil contractor in Chicago, focusing on high-rise concrete cores and structural steel erection.
On a daily basis, I’m reading complex rebar schedules and KM drawings to lay out columns, shear walls, and suspended slabs. I use tie-wire reels and pneumatic tying tools to secure intricate rebar cages, ensuring strict adherence to cover and spacing tolerances. When it’s time to pour, I’m involved in placing, screeding, and power-troweling the concrete, as well as setting up and stripping Peri or Doka formwork systems. I’m also certified to rig loads and signal cranes for setting steel beams and precast panels.
I hold an OSHA 30 card and a certified ironworker ticket. I’m physically conditioned for heavy lifting and working at heights. I’m looking for a stable, full-time role with a reputable concrete or steel contractor in the Chicago area, targeting around $65,000 USD annually. I bring my own basic hand tools, a strong work ethic, and a zero-tolerance policy for safety shortcuts.
