Managing underground utility projects means dealing with dirt, water, and tight schedules. I’ve spent the last eight years in civil construction, progressing from a pipefitter to a site superintendent. Between 2014 and 2018, I worked for a municipal contractor in BC, laying water mains and sewer lines. I learned how to read profile drawings, manage trench shoring, and coordinate with excavator operators.
Since 2019, I’ve been working as a superintendent for a heavy civil firm in Vancouver, overseeing large-scale storm drain and utility relocation projects. My role involves managing crews of pipefitters, laborers, and equipment operators. I’m responsible for ensuring the trench is excavated to the correct grade, the bedding material is properly compacted, and the pipe (whether HDPE, PVC, or concrete) is laid and joined according to spec. I also oversee hydrostatic testing, backfilling, and the final restoration of the surface. I’m highly proficient in using GPS rovers and total stations to verify grades and alignments.
I hold a valid First Aid ticket and my Gold Seal certification is in progress. I’m seeking a permanent superintendent role with a major civil contractor in Vancouver, targeting $90,000 CAD. I’m a decisive leader, safety-obsessed, and ready to manage complex infrastructure projects.
