Working with hydronic systems requires a deep understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics, combined with hands-on plumbing skills. ~ Boiler Rooms & Mechanicals: From 2017 to 2020, I worked for a specialized HVAC company, binding boiler rooms for custom homes and small commercial buildings. I installed high-efficiency condensing boilers, heat pumps, and buffer tanks, ensuring all piping was meticulously soldered or pressed.
~ Radiant Floor Heating: Since 2021, I've been working as a lead technician for a firm that specializes in underfloor heating. My daily tasks involve laying out PEX or PERT pipes on insulation boards, connecting them to manifold cabinets, and performing hydrostatic pressure tests. I understand the importance of proper system balancing and air elimination to ensure quiet and efficient operation.
~ Tools & Standards: I am highly proficient with Uponor ProPEX expansion tools and Viega press fittings. I always ensure my layouts meet the Alberta Building Code and are aesthetically clean and easy to service.
