Description

🏢 **About Us:**
A precision machine shop in Cleveland, OH, is hiring a 5th-Class Manual Machinist for our universal lathes (South Bend, Clausing). We don't do mass production runs. Clients come to us with non-standard challenges: machining a shaft for a vintage machine, repairing bearing seats, turning custom flanges from a sample, or making a small batch of specialty threaded fasteners. Every part is an engineering puzzle.

📋 **Core Responsibilities:**
• Full-cycle operation: from reading a blueprint or sketch to handing the finished part to QC.
• Independently selecting cutting speeds/feeds, mounting tools, and securing workpieces in chucks or between centers.
• In-process measurement using micrometers and calipers (tolerances often held to 0.0005" - 0.001").

🎓 **Requirements:**
• Vocational degree or proven apprenticeship in manual machining.
• 3+ years of experience on universal manual lathes.
• Mastery of precision measuring instruments and blueprint reading (GD&T, surface finish).
• Self-starter mentality: you don't need a babysitter telling you what to do.

✨ **What We Offer:**
• Target Salary: $50,000 USD annually.
• Full-time, on-site role in Cleveland, OH.
• Bonuses for complex custom jobs and a shop culture that values precision over rushing.
