Description
🏢 **About Us:**
A heavy equipment repair shop in Denver, CO, is seeking a TIG Welder specializing in aluminum alloys. We don't fabricate new parts from scratch—we repair damaged components: cracked fuel tanks from vibration, punctured oil pans, broken brackets, and housings that have been poorly welded by others. The focus is on clean metal prep, strict heat control, and proper filler selection for thin walls.
📋 **Core Responsibilities:**
• Surface Prep: Mechanical removal of the oxide layer (stainless wire wheel), degreasing.
• Heat Management: Aluminum dissipates heat rapidly; you must control the puddle temperature.
• Filler Selection: Matching 4043 or 5356 wire to the specific alloy (e.g., 6061, 5052).
• Thin-Wall Welding (1-3 mm): Preventing burn-through while ensuring a uniform, leak-free bead.
• Repair Welding: Dealing with dirty, oil-soaked metal that requires rigorous preparation.
🎓 **Requirements:**
• Proven experience TIG welding aluminum, specifically in a repair/rebuild context.
• Ability to advise the shop foreman when a part needs more prep rather than just "tacking over the dirt."
• Calm, methodical approach to heat-sensitive materials.
✨ **What We Offer:**
• Target Salary: $60,000 USD annually.
• Full-time, on-site role in Denver, CO.
• Bonuses for complex repair jobs, official employment, and a clean shop environment.
