🏢 **About Us:**
A precision machine shop in Cleveland, OH, is hiring a 5th-Class Manual Machinist for short-run and one-off production. We don't run endless loops of the same part. Today it's a batch of 20 bronze bushings, tomorrow it's a custom stainless flange, and next week it's a threaded adapter from a customer's sketch. The work demands an engineering mindset and the ability to change setups rapidly.
📋 **Core Responsibilities:**
• Blueprint Reading: Interpreting complex drawings and calculating speeds/feeds for various materials (carbon steel, stainless, bronze, brass, Delrin).
• Precision Machining: Holding tolerances to 0.001" (tenths); tracking dimensions via inspection sheets.
• Tooling: Selecting, grinding, and setting up cutting tools, drills, and reamers for specific tasks.
• Threading: Cutting metric, ACME, and trapezoidal threads manually or via machine.
• In-Process QC: Verifying your own work with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
🎓 **Requirements:**
• A methodical machinist who handles frequent setup changes without losing accuracy.
• Ability to know when a tool needs grinding before it ruins a part.
• Vocational training and a verified 5th-class machinist credential.
✨ **What We Offer:**
• Target Salary: $55,000 USD annually.
• Full-time, on-site role in Cleveland, OH.
• Clean, heated shop, well-maintained manual lathes (South Bend, Clausing), piece-rate pay with a guaranteed minimum base.
