A facilities maintenance division for a large industrial campus in Rochester, NY, is hiring a Utility Mechanic to maintain our district heating and domestic hot water networks. We manage a massive footprint of manufacturing plants, warehouses, and office buildings. Your mission is to keep the heat on and the water flowing.
📋 **Core Responsibilities:**
• Seasonal PM: Hydrostatic pressure testing, chemical flushing, and winterization prep.
• Emergency Repairs: Fixing steam leaks, replacing burst pipe sections, and repairing flanged joints/expansion loops.
• Valve & Pump Overhauls: Rebuilding gate valves, swapping isolation ball valves, and servicing circulator pumps.
• Boiler Room/Heat Exchanger Maintenance: Cleaning tube bundles and calibrating building automation sensors.
🎓 **Requirements:**
• Strong background in commercial/industrial plumbing, pipefitting, or steam systems.
• Skills with flanges, threading, welding (a plus), and heavy valve actuators.
• Urgency and stamina: You understand that a burst steam main in winter means a frozen facility.
