A dedicated generator repair shop in Austin, TX, is hiring an Electrician to diagnose and fix portable and standby gas/diesel generators (2 kW to 30 kW) for retail, construction, and residential clients. When the grid drops or a job site needs power, these machines must run.
📋 **Core Responsibilities:**
• Alternator Diagnostics: Megger testing stator/rotor windings for shorts, opens, and ground faults.
• Brush & Commutator Service: Replacing exciter brushes, cleaning slip rings, and setting spring tension.
• AVR Troubleshooting: Testing and replacing Automatic Voltage Regulators to ensure stable output under load.
• Starting Systems: Rebuilding starter motors, replacing solenoids, and fixing battery charging circuits.
• Load Bank Testing: Running the repaired unit under simulated load to verify voltage and frequency stability.
🎓 **Requirements:**
• Electrical background with strong knowledge of AC alternators, AVR circuits, and small engine electrics.
• Meticulous wiring habits: You trace a fault to a single corroded terminal, not just guess.
