Opis

A heavy manufacturing plant in Pittsburgh, specializing in large-scale metal stamping and precision machining, is urgently hiring a 5th-class Industrial Maintenance Electrician for our facilities department. We are running a second shift and expanding our machining floor, meaning our current crew of electricians is stretched thin trying to cover both preventive maintenance and emergency breakdowns across two massive production wings.

What you will be doing on the shop floor:
– Executing scheduled preventive maintenance on 480V to 1000V step-down transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), and heavy-duty switchgear.
– Troubleshooting, repairing, and rewinding three-phase industrial motors, VFDs, and servo drives that power our CNC machines and stamping presses.
– Fabricating and terminating power cables, crimping heavy lugs, and routing complex control wiring through active, congested cable trays.
– Testing and calibrating overcurrent relays, ground fault protection, and verifying the integrity of the plant's grounding and bonding systems.
– Responding immediately to catastrophic line failures, using megohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and multimeters to isolate the fault and restore power to the production line within minutes.

Who we need for this role:
– A valid Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification, with a high-voltage endorsement (clearance up to 1000V).
– At least 3 years of gritty, hands-on experience maintaining electrical systems in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
– The ability to read and interpret complex ladder logic, schematic diagrams, and OEM manuals without needing constant supervision.
– Physical stamina and a willingness to work a rotating 2-2-3 shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holiday on-call rotations.

The working environment:
This is a loud, hot, and demanding environment. You will be working near thermal forging equipment, climbing ladders to service overhead bridge cranes, and navigating tight mechanical spaces. It requires physical endurance, strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and a zero-tolerance attitude toward safety shortcuts.

Compensation and perks:
We pay $65,000 USD per year, with substantial overtime opportunities and shift differentials that can push your take-home pay much higher. We provide full union-style benefits, premium PPE, and a dedicated tool allowance.
