A major consumer finance and subprime lending company in Phoenix, Arizona, is expanding its recovery department and looking for a Senior Collections & Recovery Specialist. We manage a large portfolio of past-due personal loans and credit cards, and we need a resilient, empathetic, and highly effective negotiator to help our customers get back on track while minimizing our charge-offs.
In this role, you will handle the soft and hard collection queues, reaching out to borrowers who are 30 to 90+ days past due. Your goal is not just to demand payment, but to understand the root cause of their financial distress and structure realistic repayment plans or hardship programs. You will document every interaction meticulously in our CRM, track the performance of your workout plans, and escalate accounts to legal or external collection agencies when all internal options have been exhausted.
We require at least 2 years of experience in debt collection, skip tracing, or financial counseling. You must possess exceptional communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a solid understanding of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and state-level consumer protection laws. We offer a base salary of $65,000 USD, plus aggressive performance bonuses for recovered funds, and a supportive, team-oriented office environment.
