A high-volume wholesale distribution company in Chicago is seeking an experienced Head of Accounting to take full command of our financial operations. As our gross merchandise value (GMV) scales and our supplier network expands across North America, we need a seasoned controller who can ensure absolute tax compliance, streamline our month-end close, and provide strategic financial guidance to the executive board.
You will be the ultimate gatekeeper of our general ledger. Your mandate encompasses the entire accounting cycle, from overseeing the accurate recording of high-volume AP and AR transactions to managing complex sales tax nexus filings across multiple states. You will lead the calculation of corporate income tax, prepare the monthly financial reporting package, and ensure that every primary document entering our system is flawlessly compliant with internal controls and external audit requirements.
The successful candidate will hold a CPA designation and possess at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a significant portion spent in the wholesale, distribution, or supply chain sector. You must have deep expertise in US GAAP, sales tax regulations, and inventory accounting.
