Description
Our Toronto-based EdTech scale-up is revolutionizing how mid-career professionals transition into the tech and data science sectors. We are moving beyond basic video lectures and need a Lead Instructional Designer who can architect deeply engaging, interactive, and pedagogically sound learning journeys. You won't just be formatting text; you will be translating dense, highly technical subject matter into digestible, career-changing experiences.
1. Collaborating intimately with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)—often senior software engineers and data scientists—to extract their tacit knowledge and structure it into logical, scaffolded learning modules.
2. Storyboarding and scripting high-production-value video lessons, interactive branching scenarios, and podcast-style audio interviews.
3. Building complex, SCORM-compliant interactive assets using Articulate Storyline 360, Rise, and Adobe Captivate, ensuring seamless integration with our Canvas LMS.
4. Designing rigorous formative and summative assessments, including peer-reviewed case studies, auto-graded coding challenges, and reflective journals.
5. Analyzing learner telemetry data (drop-off rates, time-on-task, quiz performance) to identify friction points in the curriculum and iterating on the content in agile sprints.
Your Professional DNA:
1. A Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or Cognitive Psychology, backed by at least 4 years of experience in corporate e-learning or higher education.
2. Deep fluency in adult learning theories (Andragogy, Constructivism) and frameworks like ADDIE, SAM, and Bloom's Taxonomy.
3. A portfolio demonstrating your ability to turn dry compliance or technical material into compelling, gamified, or narrative-driven learning experiences.
4. Exceptional copywriting skills; you know how to write conversationally and keep a remote learner hooked without relying on cheap gimmicks.
Compensation & Culture:
- A base salary of $85,000 CAD per year, plus stock options in our rapidly growing platform.
- A 100% remote-first culture with asynchronous workflows, meaning you can design from your cabin in Muskoka or your condo in downtown Toronto, as long as you hit your sprint goals.
- Unlimited access to our entire catalog of premium tech bootcamps to keep your own skills razor-sharp.
