Description
Are you passionate about demystifying calculus and quantum mechanics for the next generation of engineers and scientists? Our elite, Boston-based online STEM academy is looking for an exceptional Online STEM Educator to guide high schoolers through the most rigorous academic challenges they will face before university. We don't just teach to the test; we build deep, intuitive understanding of how the universe works mathematically.
~ Delivering high-impact, 1-on-1 and small-group virtual tutoring sessions focused on AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C (Mechanics and E&M), and SAT/ACT Math prep.
~ Leveraging technology to make the abstract tangible: using Wacom drawing tablets, Desmos, GeoGebra, and PhET interactive simulations to visualize vector fields, kinematics, and limits.
~ Mitigating math anxiety by breaking down complex derivations into logical, bite-sized steps, and teaching students how to debug their own problem-solving processes rather than just giving them the answers.
~ Designing custom formative assessments and weekly problem sets that challenge students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world engineering scenarios.
~ Maintaining transparent, proactive communication with parents and high school guidance counselors, providing monthly progress reports and strategic advice on college STEM admissions.
Your Background:
~ A Master's or Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, or a related engineering field from an accredited university.
~ At least 2 years of experience specifically tutoring high schoolers for AP exams or Math Olympiads (AMC 10/12, AIME), with a proven track record of students scoring 4s and 5s.
~ An engaging, patient, and highly articulate on-camera presence. You know how to read a student's confusion through a webcam and adjust your pacing instantly.
~ Flawless written and spoken English, with the ability to explain concepts like 'electromagnetic induction' or 'Taylor series' in ways that are both scientifically rigorous and accessible.
Remuneration & Perks:
- A stable annual salary of $75,000 USD, prorated based on a guaranteed 30-hour teaching load, with premium hourly rates for weekend and holiday exam-cram sessions.
- 100% remote work, allowing you to teach from anywhere in the US Eastern Time Zone, provided you have a hardwired, fiber-optic internet connection and a professional home studio setup.
- Paid curriculum development hours during the summer months to help us build our proprietary interactive physics lab modules.
