A regional branch of a federal government enterprise in Ottawa is announcing a competition for the position of Administrative Clerk in the General Affairs Department. We are looking for a systematic, responsible, and detail-oriented professional who is well-versed in archival standards and government document flow. The role requires full-time on-site work and direct interaction with heads of structural divisions.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Receiving, primary processing, and registering incoming and outgoing correspondence in our specialized accounting software.
- Maintaining registration logs for operational orders, directives, and memos, and distributing them to executors.
- Handling citizen appeals and freedom of information requests: monitoring review deadlines and drafting responses.
- Forming nomenclature files for the General Affairs Department and preparing documents for transfer to the national archives.
- Ensuring compliance with official document formatting standards (e.g., TC standards for government correspondence).
- Ordering and tracking office supplies for the administrative staff.
Our Requirements:
- Relevant post-secondary or bachelor's education (document management, archival science, public administration).
- 1+ year of experience as a clerk or secretary in government institutions or municipal enterprises.
- Perfect knowledge of English grammar, business etiquette, and official document formatting standards.
- Advanced PC skills (MS Word, Excel) and experience with electronic document management systems (EDMS).
- High level of concentration, ability to work with confidential information, and emotional resilience.
Government Guarantees & Conditions:
- Full-time employment from day one in accordance with federal labor laws.
- Stable annual salary of $58,000 CAD (including all statutory allowances).

- Work schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM (weekends off).
