A precision manufacturing facility in Windsor, Ontario, producing mission-critical metal components for military vehicles and unmanned systems, is looking for a CNC Machinist who takes pride in holding tolerances tighter than a human hair.
Your work on the shop floor:
- Operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling centers (Haas VF series, DMG Mori) and CNC lathes to produce complex geometries from aluminum 6061-T6, 7075-T6, titanium Ti-6Al-4V, and 17-4 PH stainless steel.
- Reading and interpreting GD&T drawings per ASME Y14.5, understanding datum references, position tolerances, and surface finish callouts (Ra values).
- Writing and editing G-code programs at the machine control, optimizing tool paths, selecting appropriate carbide end mills, inserts, and drill bits, and setting feeds and speeds to maximize tool life while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
- Performing first-article inspections using digital calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges, and documenting results on inspection reports before releasing parts to QA.
- Conducting routine preventive maintenance on machines: checking way lube levels, cleaning chip conveyors, verifying spindle runout, and replacing coolant filters.
What qualifies you:
- A minimum of 3 years machining experience in a production environment, preferably in aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturing.
- Formal training: a Red Seal Machinist certification or an equivalent college diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently from a drawing to a finished, inspected part without requiring constant supervision.
- Discipline, patience, and an uncompromising attitude toward quality — a single out-of-tolerance part in a defense application can have catastrophic consequences.
Compensation: $62,000 CAD per year, paid bi-weekly, with shift premiums for afternoon and night rotations. This is a full-time, on-site position in our climate-controlled shop in Windsor. We provide all cutting tools, workholding, PPE, and steel-toed boots. Overtime is regularly available and paid at 1.5x.
