Our Huntsville production facility assembles unmanned aerial systems for government and defense customers, and every aircraft that leaves our floor must meet MIL-STD quality requirements. We need electronics assemblers whose solder joints could pass inspection under a microscope.
What you do every shift:
~ Populate and solder printed circuit boards following IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards: placing 0402 and 0603 passive components, QFP and QFN ICs, and through-hole connectors using both reflow and hand-soldering techniques.
~ Assemble wiring harnesses with proper crimp terminations, heat-shrink tubing, and strain relief boots, routing cables through carbon fiber airframe channels without creating pinch points or electromagnetic interference.
~ Install brushless motors, electronic speed controllers, flight computers, GPS modules, and electro-optical gimbal payloads into airframe structures, torquing fasteners to spec and applying thread-locker where required.
~ Perform power-on acceptance testing: verifying supply rail voltages, checking for short circuits, confirming motor rotation direction, validating radio link range, and running automated test scripts that exercise every I/O pin.
~ Document any non-conformances in our MES (Manufacturing Execution System) with photographs, part numbers, and root-cause notes so that engineering can close the loop.
Required qualifications:
~ IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification (or willingness to obtain within first 60 days).
~ At least 2 years of hands-on experience assembling electronic products, preferably in aerospace, medical, or defense manufacturing.
~ Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and wiring diagrams with confidence.
~ Steady hands, sharp eyes, and the patience to rework a 0.5mm pitch connector without lifting a pad.
Pay: $48,000 USD per year with a clear step-up schedule as you gain certifications. Full-time, on-site at our Huntsville cleanroom and assembly floor. We provide ESD-safe workstations, microscopes, rework stations, and all PPE.
