A defense manufacturing company in Ottawa is hiring an EW Systems Test & Validation Engineer to rigorously test our electronic warfare countermeasure suites. You will be the one proving that our systems actually work, both in the controlled environment of the lab and out in the mud and rain of the testing grounds.
* Conducting comprehensive laboratory and field (proving ground) tests on trench, dome, and mobile EW systems.
* Measuring critical technical parameters: output power per jamming channel, antenna VSWR, signal spectral purity, and thermal performance under continuous load.
* Analyzing the effectiveness of signal suppression against various drone protocols (GPS/Galileo, ELRS, Crossfire, analog video) at varying distances and environmental conditions.
* Troubleshooting hardware faults, identifying failed RF amplifiers or degraded connectors, and performing component-level repairs.
* Maintaining detailed test logs, generating compliance reports, and documenting test procedures for future production batches.
* Our expectations for this role *
* At least 2 years of experience testing, debugging, or repairing RF/electronic hardware, preferably in a defense or aerospace context.
* Expert-level proficiency with RF test equipment: spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, vector impedance analyzers, and high-bandwidth oscilloscopes.
* A strong understanding of RF circuit design, including frequency synthesizers, low-noise amplifiers (LNA), power amplifiers (PA), and mixers.
* Knowledge of the current RF frequency bands utilized by commercial and military UAVs for C2 and navigation.
* Physical fitness and willingness to travel regularly to remote testing ranges for live-flight validation trials.
We offer a highly competitive salary of $90,000 CAD per year, with a flexible schedule and opportunities for remote report writing. This is a full-time position based in Ottawa, ON. We provide all necessary high-end test equipment, company vehicles for field tests, and a clear path to senior engineering roles.
