Опис

A cutting-edge defense technology company in Seattle is looking for a Lead Autonomous Navigation Engineer to develop advanced navigation algorithms for our UAVs operating in heavily contested, GPS-denied environments. You will be writing the code that allows our drones to fly, map, and strike when the enemy has jammed every satellite signal.

~ Your primary focus will be:
~ Developing, implementing, and optimizing autonomous navigation algorithms for fixed-wing and multirotor UAVs operating without GNSS (GPS/Galileo) signals.
~ Integrating and calibrating Inertial Navigation Systems (INS/IMU), optical flow sensors, and Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) algorithms to maintain accurate state estimation.
~ Creating and tuning Computer Vision modules for terrain-relative navigation, obstacle avoidance, and autonomous target recognition using machine learning models.
~ Programming and testing the core autonomy stack within the ROS 2 (Robot Operating System) framework, ensuring robust communication between perception, planning, and control nodes.
~ Participating in Software-In-The-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) simulations, followed by rigorous outdoor flight tests to validate algorithm performance in real-world conditions.

~ What you need to succeed:
~ Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, with extensive practical experience developing within the ROS / ROS 2 ecosystem.
~ A deep understanding of the underlying mathematics: linear algebra, control theory (PID, LQR), and state estimation (Extended Kalman Filters, Particle Filters).
~ Hands-on experience with computer vision libraries (OpenCV) and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) algorithms.
~ A basic understanding of flight controller hardware architectures (Pixhawk, CubePilot) and their sensor interfaces.
~ A Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.

We offer a highly competitive salary of $130,000 USD per year, plus equity options and a remote-first work culture. This is a full-time, remote position. You will be provided with a high-end workstation, access to our cloud-based simulation clusters, and a travel budget for on-site flight testing at our private desert proving grounds.
