A specialized defense training contractor in Virginia Beach is looking for a Lead FPV Drone Tactics & Reconnaissance Instructor to train military and corporate security clients. With the rapid evolution of unmanned aerial systems on the modern battlefield, we need a practitioner who can teach operators not just how to fly, but how to fight.
Your training curriculum will cover:
~ Theoretical Foundations: Aerodynamics of FPV platforms, flight safety, regulatory frameworks, and operating in heavily contested EW (Electronic Warfare) and GPS-denied environments.
~ Simulator Progression: Building muscle memory and tactical routing in Liftoff and Velocidrone before students ever touch a real aircraft.
~ Live Flight Operations: Hands-on piloting of FPV quads and multirotors on our outdoor obstacle course, mastering takeoffs, autonomous waypoints, and emergency return-to-home procedures.
~ Tactical Application: Aerial reconnaissance, target identification/classification, and coordinating artillery fire missions or close air support via secure comms.
~ Field Maintenance: Pre-flight diagnostics, basic field repairs, FPV video link optimization, and counter-EW tactics.
Requirements:
~ Minimum 1 year of verified, high-intensity FPV piloting experience; reconnaissance UAV background is highly preferred.
~ Exceptional communication skills to translate technical and tactical concepts to students of varying baseline skill levels.
~ Psychological resilience and readiness to conduct training in austere, outdoor field conditions.
Compensation is $85,000 USD annually, with a full benefits package. This is a full-time, on-site position in Virginia Beach, requiring you to lead classes in both our climate-controlled sim labs and our private outdoor flight ranges.
