Описание

An innovative UAV design bureau in Bristol is expanding its R&D department and seeking an Aerospace Materials Scientist to push the boundaries of lightweight structural design. If you are obsessed with the intersection of chemistry, physics, and flight performance, we want you on our team.

I. Research & Development: Investigating and qualifying next-generation lightweight materials for UAV airframes, including advanced foam cores, honeycomb structures, and novel thermoplastic resins.
II. Laboratory Testing: Conducting destructive and non-destructive testing on material coupons and sub-components, measuring tensile strength, flexural modulus, impact resistance, and thermal degradation.
III. Supply Chain Collaboration: Working directly with raw material suppliers to evaluate new batches of epoxy resins, carbon fiber weaves, and aramid fabrics for consistency and performance.
IV. Design Support: Providing the structural engineering team with accurate material property data to inform FEA simulations and CAD modeling.
V. Process Optimization: Defining the exact thermal cure cycles and vacuum pressures required for our autoclave and out-of-autoclave manufacturing processes.

Requirements:
I. Deep academic and practical knowledge of polymer chemistry, solid-state physics, or advanced materials science.
II. Hands-on experience operating universal testing machines (UTM), DSC, and DMA equipment.
III. Prior experience with composite materials in aviation, motorsport, or marine applications is highly desirable.
IV. A Master's or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

We offer a salary of £55,000 GBP per year, plus a generous R&D bonus structure. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work model, allowing you to conduct your data analysis and report writing remotely, while spending 3 days a week in our Bristol materials lab.
