A specialized defense research laboratory in Reston, Virginia, is seeking a meticulous RF Spectrum Analyst & SIGINT Engineer to join our Electronic Warfare (EW) division. In this role, you will be the eyes and ears of our development team, operating in a secure SCIF environment to monitor, dissect, and catalog the electromagnetic spectrum.
Your daily operational focus will include:
~ Continuous monitoring of designated RF frequency bands to detect, identify, and characterize drone telemetry, video downlinks, and control signals.
~ Utilizing advanced spectrum analyzers and direction-finding (DF) equipment to pinpoint the exact modulation types, bandwidths, and frequency-hopping patterns of hostile UAVs.
~ Geolocating RF emitters and feeding real-time coordinate data to our EW countermeasure teams for adaptive jamming.
~ Testing and validating new automated signal recognition algorithms, building comprehensive databases of RF signatures for our next-generation threat library.
~ Working extensively with Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms and custom DSP software to analyze complex signals in real-time.
We require a candidate with at least 2 years of experience in RF monitoring, SIGINT, or technical communications. You must be highly proficient with SDR receivers (HackRF One, RTL-SDR, USRP) and analysis tools like SDRSharp or URH. A solid grasp of radio physics, analog/digital modulation schemes, and signal propagation is essential. You must possess the discipline to maintain intense focus during long shifts and the analytical mindset to solve complex signal puzzles.
We offer a competitive salary of $95,000 USD per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and a 401(k) match.
