Description

A cutting-edge defense technology firm in Ottawa, Ontario, is looking for an Embedded FPGA & DSP Firmware Engineer to architect the digital signal processing cores for our next-generation RF jamming systems. We build mission-critical electronic warfare hardware, and we need a coder who understands that in our world, a microsecond of latency can mean the difference between a successful intercept and a missed threat.

1. Programming and optimizing Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) modules and high-speed ADC/DAC interfaces to generate precise, adaptive jamming waveforms.
2. Writing low-level embedded C/C++ for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32) and developing high-performance RTL logic for Xilinx and Altera FPGAs using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
3. Implementing complex Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms, including Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT), digital filtering, and real-time spectral analysis.
4. Optimizing the firmware architecture and FPGA routing to minimize processing latency, ensuring our systems react instantaneously to external RF threats.
5. Collaborating closely with the RF hardware team to bring up custom PCBs, debugging signal integrity issues using high-bandwidth oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

You must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in FPGA development and embedded C. Deep knowledge of high-speed data acquisition interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe) and a solid theoretical foundation in DSP (filtering, frequency domain analysis) are mandatory.

We offer a salary of $115,000 CAD per year, plus a comprehensive Canadian benefits package. This is a full-time, remote-friendly position; we will ship you a fully equipped development bench (FPGA eval boards, JTAG debuggers, and lab equipment) so you can compile, flash, and test code from your home lab, with monthly on-site syncs at our Ottawa headquarters.
