A leading developer of electronic warfare systems in Munich is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to architect the physical enclosures and thermal management solutions for our high-power RF jamming units. Our equipment generates immense heat and must survive being dropped in mud, submerged in water, and baked in the desert sun. We need an engineer who can design rugged, IP-rated housings that keep our sensitive electronics cool and functional.
➤ Designing and detailing complex, multi-part enclosures for trench-mounted, vehicle-mounted, and man-portable EW systems, ensuring compliance with IP65/IP67 ingress protection standards.
➤ Performing advanced thermal simulations (CFD and steady-state) to design custom heat sinks, heat pipes, and forced-air cooling channels for high-wattage RF power amplifiers.
➤ Creating parametric 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks, specifically tailored for CNC machining from aluminum billet and high-pressure die casting.
➤ Selecting appropriate elastomeric seals, O-ring grooves, and EMI shielding gaskets to guarantee environmental and electromagnetic integrity.
➤ Overseeing the physical assembly and environmental testing of prototypes, conducting leak tests, thermal chamber runs, and vibration shaker trials.
You must hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have at least 2 years of experience designing ruggedized electronics enclosures. Expert-level SolidWorks skills, including Thermal Simulation and Sheet Metal modules, are required. A strong grasp of manufacturing processes (CNC, casting, extrusion) and material science is essential.
We offer a gross annual salary of €68,000 EUR, plus a generous German benefits package including a company pension and flexible hours. This is a full-time, on-site role at our design and testing facility in Munich.
