A precision UAV manufacturing company in Windsor, Ontario, is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our airframe integration team. You will be the person who takes flat sheets of carbon fiber, machined aluminum brackets, and raw hardware, and turns them into a rigid, geometrically perfect flying machine. This is a hands-on, bench-level role for someone who loves the smell of cyanoacrylate and the satisfaction of a perfectly torqued screw.
1) Assembling and mechanically fitting carbon fiber and composite airframe components, ensuring perfect alignment of arms, booms, and central chassis plates.
2) Cutting, drilling, and tapping carbon fiber and aluminum parts using hand tools, Dremels, and drill presses, always wearing appropriate respiratory protection against composite dust.
3) Installing threaded inserts, standoffs, landing gear, and vibration-dampening mounts for flight controllers and GPS modules using precise amounts of Loctite.
4) Integrating mechanical payload release mechanisms, gimbal mounts, and sensor housings, ensuring zero play or mechanical backlash.
5) Performing final geometric inspections, checking for frame squareness, arm symmetry, and structural rigidity before the drone is handed over to the avionics team.
We require at least 1 year of experience in mechanical assembly, RC hobbies, or a related manufacturing role. You must be highly proficient with hand tools, calipers, and reading 3D exploded-view assembly instructions. A keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to work are essential.
We offer $52,000 CAD per year, with a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time, on-site position at our Windsor assembly plant. We provide all specialized tooling, adhesives, hardware, and ESD-safe workbenches.
