Description
A high-reliability electronics manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama, is seeking a meticulous SMT & BGA Rework Technician to assemble and repair complex RF and microwave printed circuit boards. In the defense sector, a single cold solder joint can mean a failed mission. We need a technician who treats every microscopic component with absolute precision and respect for IPC standards.
1. Performing intricate surface-mount assembly and rework on high-density, multi-layer RF PCBs, handling ultra-miniature components like 0402, 0201, and 01005 under a high-powered binocular microscope.
2. Executing flawless BGA (Ball Grid Array) and QFN reballing, removal, and replacement using precision infrared (IR) and hot-air rework stations, strictly adhering to specific thermal profiles for lead-free and leaded solders.
3. Terminating and soldering delicate high-frequency coaxial connectors and micro-strip lines directly onto the board edges, ensuring minimal signal reflection.
4. Applying specialized conformal coatings, moisture-barrier compounds, and RF shielding enclosures to protect the assemblies from harsh field environments.
5. Rigorously cleaning and inspecting all flux residues and solder joints to maintain strict IPC-A-610 Class 3 compliance.
You must have at least 2 years of dedicated experience in SMT and BGA rework, ideally in aerospace, medical, or defense electronics. Excellent fine motor skills, steady hands, and the ability to read complex schematics are non-negotiable. We offer $65,000 USD per year, with shift differentials and a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time, on-site position in our climate-controlled, ESD-safe cleanroom in Huntsville.
