Description
A heritage precision engineering firm in Sheffield is looking for an experienced Machine Shop Shift Supervisor to lead our machining operations. We produce critical, tight-tolerance components for armored vehicles and UAV navigation systems, and we need a leader who can keep the shop floor running safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
* Coordinating the daily activities of a 15-person team of CNC operators, manual machinists, and grinding technicians, ensuring all production targets are met without compromising safety or quality.
* Reading and interpreting complex 3D CAD models and 2D GD&T drawings, assigning the right machines and tooling for each job, and troubleshooting setup issues on the fly.
* Managing the flow of raw materials, cutting tools, and workholding fixtures to the workbenches, minimizing machine downtime and optimizing cycle times.
* Enforcing strict adherence to ISO 9001 quality management systems and health & safety regulations, conducting daily toolbox talks and regular 5S audits.
* Performing first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using micrometers, CMMs, and bore gauges, authorizing the release of parts to the next stage of production.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience as a lead machinist or shift supervisor in a heavy manufacturing or aerospace environment. You must possess a deep understanding of metallurgy, cutting mechanics, and manual/CNC machining processes. We offer a salary of £48,000 GBP per year, plus excellent overtime rates and a contributory pension scheme. This is a full-time, on-site role in our bustling, well-lit machine shop in Sheffield.
