Description

A leading defense electronics contractor in San Diego is seeking an EMC/EMI Compliance Engineer to ensure our Electronic Warfare systems don't blind our own communications while jamming the enemy. In a modern battlefield, a drone's flight controller, video link, and EW payload must coexist on the same airframe without interfering with each other. You will be the guardian of that electromagnetic peace.

>> Electromagnetic Modeling & Simulation
>> Running full-wave 3D electromagnetic simulations in CST Studio Suite and ANSYS HFSS to predict coupling, shielding effectiveness, and antenna isolation on complex UAV airframes.
>> Designing custom RF shielding enclosures, filtering networks, and grounding strategies to protect sensitive avionics from high-power RF emissions.

>> Testing & Compliance
>> Developing test plans and executing MIL-STD-461 and DO-160 compliance testing in our anechoic chamber, measuring radiated emissions and susceptibility.
>> Analyzing test failures, identifying the root cause of EMI spikes, and working directly with the PCB layout team to optimize trace routing and decoupling.

We require a Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering with at least 2 years of dedicated EMC/EMI experience. Proficiency in EM simulation software and hands-on experience with spectrum analyzers and near-field probes are essential. We offer $115,000 USD per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work model, allowing you to run your simulations remotely while spending 2 days a week in our San Diego EMC lab.
