Description

In the drone industry, a single cold solder joint or a loose motor mount can result in a catastrophic mid-air failure. As a Quality Assurance Inspector, I am the final gatekeeper, ensuring that every UAV leaving the assembly line meets rigorous aerospace and IPC standards.

+ Performing microscopic visual inspections of solder joints on flight controllers, ESCs, and video transmitters according to IPC-A-610 Class 3 criteria.
+ Verifying mechanical assembly, including the correct application of thread-locking compounds (Loctite) and environmental sealing of composite housings.
+ Running bench tests on propulsion systems using calibrated thrust stands to measure efficiency, current draw, and vibration signatures.
+ Executing comprehensive pre-flight checklists, validating sensor calibration, radio link integrity, and failsafe behaviors before shipping.
+ Maintaining detailed non-conformance reports (NCR) and feeding defect data back to the engineering team for continuous improvement.

For the past two and a half years, I have served as the lead QC inspector on a UAV assembly line. I introduced a mandatory pre-flight telemetry test card that completely eliminated first-flight crashes caused by assembly errors. In one notable instance, my incoming quality control process using an ESR meter caught a batch of 40 defective power capacitors before they were soldered, saving the company thousands of dollars in potential field failures. By systematizing our defect tracking, I helped reduce the internal scrap rate by 15%.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Aircraft Control Systems and an IPC visual inspection certification. I am uncompromising when it comes to quality and possess the communication skills to diplomatically correct assembly technicians. I am looking for a full-time, on-site QA role in Windsor, ON, targeting $58,000 CAD.
