Description

In a modern electronic warfare environment, voice and data links are constantly targeted, jammed, or triangulated. I specialize in teaching tactical units how to deploy, secure, and troubleshoot digital radio networks in contested environments.

From 2018 to 2021, I worked as a communications technician at a military training center, maintaining a fleet of digital radios and teaching basic operator procedures. Since early 2021, I have been a lead instructor for tactical communications, deploying to field exercises to train units on advanced network topologies. I teach soldiers how to configure encrypted digital radios (such as Motorola and Harris platforms), manage frequency hopping patterns, and establish secure voice and data links.

My core expertise lies in retransmission operations. I instruct teams on how to rapidly deploy portable retransmission nodes on high ground or temporary masts to extend the range of their networks beyond line-of-sight. I teach RF propagation planning, antenna selection (whip vs. directional Yagi), and the critical art of frequency management to avoid self-jamming. I also train operators on emergency fallback procedures, ensuring they can restore comms within minutes if a primary retransmission node is destroyed or compromised.

I am highly experienced with tactical antennas, field-expedient grounding, and the maintenance of ruggedized battery systems in extreme weather. I possess a calm demeanor under pressure, the ability to explain complex RF concepts to non-technical infantrymen, and a deep respect for operational security (OPSEC). I am seeking a full-time, on-site role at a training facility in Ottawa, ON, with a target salary of $68,000 CAD.
