When a trench-based jammer goes down in the rain, the soldiers cannot wait for it to be shipped back to a depot. I am the technician they call. I specialize in the field diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of mobile electronic warfare and RF jamming systems.
I began my career as an industrial electrician in 2015, working on heavy machinery and high-voltage distribution panels. That foundation gave me a deep respect for electrical safety and troubleshooting logic. In 2018, I pivoted to tactical communications and EW maintenance, and since 2021, I have been deployed as a lead field service technician for a defense contractor in San Diego.
My daily routine involves driving to forward operating bases or training ranges to perform preventative maintenance on dome-style and man-portable EW units. I inspect coaxial feed lines for moisture ingress, test the VSWR of the antenna arrays using portable analyzers, and swap out blown RF power transistors using my mobile rework station. I also troubleshoot the internal power distribution boards, ensuring that the inverters are delivering clean sine waves to the microwave modules despite the dusty and humid environment.
I carry my own comprehensive field kit, including a Fluke thermal imager, a portable spectrum analyzer, and a battery-powered soldering station. I am physically fit, capable of lifting heavy antenna masts, and I remain completely calm when an operator is breathing down my neck to get their comms back online.
