Description

A prestigious independent preparatory school in Toronto is seeking a dedicated and health-conscious Institutional Chef to run our daily cafeteria operations. We feed over 600 students and faculty members, and our philosophy centers on providing nutritious, allergy-aware, and genuinely delicious meals that fuel young minds. You will step away from the chaotic restaurant scene and enjoy a structured, rewarding schedule focused on large-batch culinary excellence.

Your daily responsibilities:
1. Executing a rotating seasonal menu that incorporates local Ontario produce, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates.
2. Managing bulk prep, from simmering house-made bone broths to baking whole-grain breads and allergen-free desserts.
3. Overseeing the receiving dock, verifying delivery manifests, and organizing the walk-in coolers using strict FIFO and HACCP principles.
4. Collaborating with the school's nutritionist to accommodate diverse dietary restrictions, including celiac, nut-free, and vegan requirements.

The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of experience in institutional cooking, banquet facilities, or high-volume catering. You must hold a valid Food Handler Certificate and possess a genuine patience for working with children's dietary needs. We offer a highly competitive salary of $48,000 CAD, a Monday-to-Friday schedule with weekends and statutory holidays off, a generous pension plan, and free daily lunches.
