Description
A farm-to-table contemporary American restaurant in the heart of Austin's South Congress district is hiring a meticulous Cold Prep Line Cook. Our kitchen relies heavily on fresh, locally sourced Texas produce, and our cold station is the star of our lunch and dinner services. We need a cook who has a sharp knife, an eye for beautiful plating, and the ability to execute high-volume salad and appetizer tickets without breaking a sweat.
1) Executing the daily prep list: washing and spinning greens, julienning vegetables, making house-made vinaigrettes, and curing gravlax.
2) Managing the cold line during service, assembling complex salads, shucking oysters, and plating charcuterie boards with artistic flair.
3) Strictly adhering to FIFO protocols, labeling all containers with date and time, and maintaining a spotless, organized walk-in cooler.
4) Collaborating with the Executive Chef to develop seasonal specials and minimize food waste through creative prep utilization.
We require at least 1 year of experience in a high-volume, scratch kitchen. A culinary degree is a plus, but a strong work ethic and a passion for fresh ingredients matter more. You must be comfortable standing for long periods and working in a fast-paced, loud environment. We offer a competitive salary of $42,000 USD, a 5-day work week with Sundays off, family meal provided, and a clear path to promotion to Sous Chef.
