Description

A high-volume, premium grocery market in Chicago's Lincoln Park is looking for a skilled Hot Foods Line Cook to manage our bustling deli and hot bar station. We prepare hundreds of fresh, chef-driven meals daily for busy professionals and families, ranging from braised short ribs to vegan grain bowls. We need a cook who can maintain restaurant-quality standards in a fast-paced retail kitchen environment.

a) Executing the daily prep list: roasting seasonal vegetables, butchering whole chickens, and simmering complex sauces and soups from scratch.
b) Managing the hot bar and grill station during the lunch and dinner rushes, ensuring food is constantly replenished, held at safe temperatures, and beautifully presented.
c) Strictly adhering to local health department codes, managing FIFO inventory rotation, and labeling all prep containers with exact date and time stamps.
d) Conducting end-of-shift deep cleans, degreasing the flat-top grill, and sanitizing all food contact surfaces.

You should have at least 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen, ideally in a high-volume deli, catering facility, or scratch restaurant. A valid Food Handler's certificate is mandatory.
