A leading civil engineering consultancy in Denver, Colorado, is seeking a detail-oriented Highway Design Engineer to join our transportation infrastructure team. We handle a wide variety of state and municipal road projects, from minor intersection upgrades to major highway expansions. This role offers a unique blend of office-based design and occasional field visits to ensure our plans translate perfectly to the real world.

What you will be doing:
a) Developing comprehensive design and construction documents (Plan and Profile, Cross Sections, Typical Sections) for roadway projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
b) Modeling complex corridor alignments, calculating earthwork volumes, and generating mass haul diagrams to optimize grading.
c) Designing stormwater management systems, including swales, culverts, and detention ponds, ensuring compliance with local municipal codes.
d) Collaborating with geotechnical and structural teams to design appropriate pavement sections (flexible and rigid) and retaining walls.
e) Preparing detailed quantity takeoffs, material specifications, and cost estimates for project bidding.

What we are looking for:
a) A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation or Highway Engineering.
b) At least 3 years of hands-on experience in roadway design, preferably with exposure to DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
c) Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with OpenRoads or MicroStation is a strong plus.
d) Solid understanding of drainage design, AASHTO guidelines, and ADA compliance for pedestrian infrastructure.
e) Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex spatial problems independently.

Our offer:
a) A competitive annual salary of $95,000 USD, with performance-based bonuses.
b) A fully remote work arrangement with flexible hours, requiring only 1-2 days a month on-site in Denver for team syncs or field visits.
c) Provision of a high-end workstation and all necessary licensed software (Civil 3D, Bluebeam).
d) Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k) matching program.
e) Opportunities for professional development, including funding for PE license preparation courses.
