Description

Working with steel requires a mix of brute strength, spatial awareness, and an unwavering commitment to safety. I’ve been in the ironworking trade for nearly a decade, starting as a helper on a commercial job site in Calgary in 2014. I quickly learned how to read erection drawings, rig loads, and signal crane operators. By 2016, I was up on the deck, bolting and welding structural beams, and I haven't looked back since.

I earned my Red Seal Welder certification in 2018, which opened up opportunities to work on more complex industrial projects. I’m highly proficient in MIG and FCAW welding, capable of passing X-ray quality welds on heavy structural connections. Over the past three years, I’ve been working as a lead erector for a steel fabrication company, managing a small crew on large-scale warehouse and manufacturing facility builds. I know how to plumb and align heavy columns, install metal decking, and ensure every connection meets the strict tolerances of the CISC code. I’m looking for a stable, full-time position with a reputable steel contractor in Calgary, expecting $70,000 CAD. I have my own welding hood, rigging gear, and a zero-tolerance policy for safety shortcuts.
