The building envelope is the first line of defense against the elements, and I’ve spent the last seven years making sure those envelopes are watertight, insulated, and visually striking. Since late 2019, I’ve been working as a lead cladding installer for a firm that specializes in large logistics centers and cold-storage facilities. My daily work involves installing insulated sandwich panels (PIR and mineral wool) for both walls and roofs. I’m highly skilled in setting up the structural steel sub-framing, ensuring it’s perfectly plumb before the panels go up. I use vacuum lifters to handle the heavy panels, cut them precisely on-site, and apply the necessary butyl tapes and sealants to guarantee a perfect weather seal. I understand the importance of preventing thermal bridging and ensuring the vapor barrier is continuous.
