Description

A specialized defense electronics contractor in Ottawa is hiring an RF Electronics Repair & Test Engineer to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix our Electronic Warfare hardware. When a jamming unit comes back from the field with a fault, you are the one who figures out why it failed and brings it back to life.

- Conducting comprehensive fault isolation on complex digital and RF subsystems within trench-mounted and vehicle-based EW units, using advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Tracing signal paths and identifying failed components (ICs, MOSFETs, RF amplifiers, filters) on multi-layer PCBs using Keysight oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logical schematics.
- Performing component-level desoldering and replacement of SMD and through-hole parts, including fine-pitch BGAs and QFPs, using specialized rework stations.
- Running full functional and environmental tests on repaired modules to verify they meet original OEM specifications before returning them to the depot.
- Maintaining detailed repair logs, tracking root causes of failures, and feeding critical field-data back to the R&D team to improve future hardware revisions.

We require at least 2 years of experience in electronics repair, preferably in RF, telecommunications, or defense. You must be highly proficient with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators, and possess the patience for microscopic soldering work. We offer $72,000 CAD per year, with a full benefits package. This is a full-time, on-site position at our repair depot and laboratory in Ottawa.
