Opis

An innovative unmanned systems developer in Austin, Texas, is seeking a UAV Ground Control Station (GCS) Software Engineer to build and customize the software that our operators use to fly and manage drones. You will be the bridge between the aircraft's firmware and the human pilot, ensuring a seamless, lag-free, and intuitive control experience.

a) Configuring, customizing, and extending open-source GCS platforms like QGroundControl and Mission Planner to meet specific military and commercial payload requirements.
b) Writing automation scripts in Python and C++ to streamline pre-flight checklists, automate telemetry logging, and integrate custom sensor data streams.
c) Developing custom UI plugins using Qt/QML to display specialized EO/IR video feeds, LiDAR point clouds, or target tracking overlays in real-time.
d) Optimizing the communication stack between the GCS and the UAV over RF radios, satellite links, and LTE/5G networks, ensuring robust MAVLink packet delivery even in high-interference environments.
e) Deploying to remote field sites to conduct live flight tests, debugging software crashes in the dirt, and gathering operator feedback for the next sprint.

You must have at least 2 years of software development experience, with strong proficiency in Python, C++, and Linux environments. A solid understanding of MAVLink, TCP/UDP networking, and Git version control is essential. We offer $95,000 USD per year, plus equity options. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work model, allowing you to code remotely while spending one day a week at our Austin flight test facility.
