While CNC machines handle the high-volume production runs, there will always be a critical need for a skilled manual machinist who can look at a complex blueprint, grab a piece of bar stock, and make a one-off prototype or custom fixture perfectly. I am a 5th-class manual machinist with five years of experience in experimental defense workshops.

Between 2017 and 2022, I operated manual center lathes (16K20, 1K62) and universal milling machines in an experimental shop. My primary focus was machining complex housings for thermal imaging optics, laser rangefinders, and custom brackets for UAV airframes. I am highly experienced in working with exotic materials, including D16T and V95 aluminum alloys, titanium, bronze, and engineering plastics like Caprolon and PTFE. I routinely hold tolerances down to 0.01 mm and achieve specific surface finishes by independently grinding my own HSS cutting tools.

A significant challenge I overcame was machining thin-walled aluminum sleeves for antenna mounts, which were prone to deformation under the clamping force. I designed and built a specialized soft-jaw fixture that distributed the pressure evenly, completely eliminating the scrap rate for that part. Additionally, by optimizing the tool change sequences on the milling machine, I reduced the production time for EW antenna brackets by 20%.

I hold a vocational diploma in Universal Machining and possess a 5th-class qualification certificate. I am technically meticulous, deeply respectful of machine tool maintenance, and in excellent physical condition. I am seeking a stable, full-time role in a well-equipped machine shop in Sheffield, UK, with a target salary of £42,000 GBP.
