A specialized industrial repair shop in Cleveland, OH, is hiring a Gearbox Rebuilder to overhaul conveyor drives, mixers, and pump gearboxes for local manufacturing and logistics plants. We receive units destroyed by dust, overheating, and lack of lubrication. Your job is meticulous teardown, cleaning, and precision reassembly.
📋 **Core Responsibilities:**
• Teardown & Cleaning: Disassembling housings and ultrasonic-cleaning all gears, shafts, and bearings.
• Defect Inspection: Checking gear teeth for pitting/spalling, measuring shaft runout, and inspecting bearing races.
• Rebuilding: Pressing and induction-heating new bearings, setting gear backlash, and replacing all seals/gaskets.
• Test Bench Run-In: Mounting the rebuilt unit, running it under load, and monitoring for heat, vibration, and noise.
🎓 **Requirements:**
• Technical education or 3+ years of experience in gearbox/power transmission repair.
• Patience and cleanliness: You don't leave a stray shim inside a housing.
• Mechanical intuition: You know how to set bearing preload and gear mesh correctly.
